Is using a 3 point harness to lift a 15 whaler up on a davit a good choice as opposed to using a spreader bar?

I have a friend that keeps his 17 suspended on 2 davits. One for the bow and one for the stern and he uses the eyes on the boat. He seems to have no problem.

I kept my Montauk on a single point davit using a spreader bar. 1 going forward and the 2 aft. It was easier to keep the boat "level" using the bar. Also less swing and more "control". The davit would lift the boat and then swivel over the water and then I lowered it down. Up was just the opposite. Straight up then turn 90 degrees to the bulkhead and land.
The bar made it much easer for a single person to do it. Without it, adjusting the heavier stern to keep it level was more diffucult. The bar also (davit company claims) allows for better leverage and less strain on davit cables etc.
