I think this is a good question to post to all of you that use your boats.

Is your boat Perfect?

Here is my answer.
It is not perfect and I don't want it to be.
If it was perfect, I really would think twice about taking it out.
I prefer to use my boat when I have the opportunity and don't want to worry about it being perfect.

I have several people that tell me I need to fix this little ding or replace this little slightly rusty headed screw, and I tell them I wouldn't want to take it out if it was perfect.

Heck, even after I clean the floor of my boats so they are pretty much spick and span, I don't even want to walk on it... Seriously... :-)

Anyone else suffer from this same problem?

Or, do you keep your boats in Perfect condition?

Joe,

I feel pretty much like you. I would like the railing and gelcoat to gleam all the time, but I get way more enjoyment from running the boat than I do from cleaning the boat.

That said, once I am done shining her up, and even though she's not perfect, I get the warm fuzzy feeling of a job well done.

YES MY BOAT IS PERFECT ! ! ! It has a few dings, dongs, chips, and war scares, I keep her in "GOOD" shape, and her wood always shines (for some reason I think those few pieces of wood make the Whalers look really classy). When I was a 12 year old kid standing knee deep in mud, along the s.w. bays of Long Island, with my "Killi and crab traps" in hand, I would see the 13 and 15' Whalers go by with other kids in them, and go crazy. I would beg for a "Whaler" when I got home from my parents, answer was always "NO" (they later said they did'nt want me to get hurt as a child). When I bought my house in 1990 I some cash left over (not much), I stumbled by accident across a guy who needed cash fast, and sacrificed his 15' whaler (sacrifice = first me finding a whaler, then him selling it at fair market value), knowing I was'nt going to go on vacation ever again in my life, I bought the boat. WUMP, THERE IT IS ! Yes it's perfect.... perfect for ME !!!!!!!

Great question!
Far be it for me to answer such a profound concept...so I looked it up.
Apparently...the first person to write about perfection was Aristotle.
His idea of perfection was something that:

1. which is complete — which contains all the requisite parts;

2. which is so good that nothing of the kind could be better;

3. which has attained its purpose.

He must have owned a Whaler!

Hey!...Riley thinks it's perfect! Tht'a good enough for me!
