I have a lake near me that has a restricted hp of a max 25hp. Just wondering if anyone has any experience on this subject . Not sure if it will move the boat on plane or not. Thanks BG

i too sail on a 25hp lake. i had a 15 whaler for years powered by a 30hp evinrude 2-stroke. i had 25 stickers made at a sign shop. unless you are a speed demon a 25 will work well. with 2 people on board getting on plane is no problem. it will plane off with 4 on board, it just takes awhile. my top speed with a light load was 26mph, 2 on board 22mph. i now have a montauk which i keep at a different lake. believe me. having two boats at two different lakes is less than ideal. it push ever comes to shove i'd give up blowboating before whalering.
i believe the only difference in OMC's 25-30hp motors is the carb. for a couple hundred bucks you could gain another 5hp.
good luck,ric
