Just sold my 98 Dauntless 13,loved it but was a little too small. I am having a tough time deciding which boat to replace it with,I mostly fist the bays, inlets and near offshore(chicken). The 3 boats are all within $1500 of each other. A 1997 Parker 17 cc with a 90 hp yamaha nicely outfitted for fishing with t top and all.a 1991 Parker 1808 cc with a 2006 suzuki 4 stroke, and a 1983 outrage 18 with twin 70 hp yamahas.Be honest.TIA

I would take a ride in one of the Parkers and then immediately take a ride in the Outrage...

Then you could easily make your decision...

Although the Parker is a fine boat I think you made a good decision.

Here is a photo of my prior 1986 Outrage 18' with twin Evinrude 70's...

You can also read the article I wrote about twin 70's on an Outrage 18'...

Let us know more about the boat when you get it and post some photos in your personal page.

i was going to post a response suggesting Joe's article.

I would have picked the Outrage. Just a great all around boat. Those engines can live a really long life if you take care of them.

If an `83 Outrage is priced within $1500 of a `97 Parker, guess what boat will have the faster depreciation over the years. You made a wise choice, plus it won`t sink, and other boaters will think you are a smart guy.

B)You made a very wise decision and I know you'll be please. Not so sure how wise your decision was to ask for advice comparing the Whaler and Parker on this site though :P For some reason members seem sort of bias!

Whalers are always "Head turners" when seen out on the open water. There seems to be a sense of "That guy knows what he is doing" when seeing someone out on a Whaler. Congratulations on your new purchase and also staying loyal to the Whaler family!

Thanks for all the feedback,Joe I love the OEM leaning post, how was the fuel consumption and why did you sell her? Oh by the way th Parkers were $8000 and $9000 and the Outrage was $6500!! Yes the Parkers were newer but I cant believe they would ride well in any sizeable chop/waves or swell, clearly limiting me to where I could comfortably fish. In that case I could have just kept the Dauntless!
Its also interesting that the Parkers were heavier,700lbs for th 18 footer, and were still basically bay boats. Not to mention that they probably wouldnt get as good fuel economy.

There are no Parkers in my neck of the woods that I am aware of. I have only seen pictures. I think you made the wise choice. I've never been in an outrage 18 either. My only concern visually is that the cc looks to be too far forward for my liking. I prefer to have the console farther back to insure a good ride. I think you'll really love fishing out of that boat.

Dont get me wrong the Parkers are extremely well built, roomy but limited to the bay and "calm" inlets. Ill keep you all posted.Thanks.
