Boat is nearing the finish line! Should be "done" (for now) sometime next week. I will be splashing for the first time in Port Aransas the week of Thanksgiving.

Thanks! No, not much hull work. Just some minor stuff. Boat was pretty clean...

There is no paint. That is original, 31 year old Whaler gel coat. Just cleaned up is all.

Well, my personal involvement was just to write the check :)
But as I observed the process, it involved strong hull cleaner, some sanding, some rubbing compound, wax and a lot of elbow grease.

gigem - We are going to have to meet up in Port A. Your boat looks great -- you must be glad to have it done. I am slow on my 19 project -- I think it is because I have the 17 sitting in the garage. I am getting there just at a very slow pace.

yeah I do some of the same cleanup stuff (other restoration items as well, but no matter) on the side and basically it involves acid-based strong hull cleaner, 1500 or 2000+ grit wet sanding, followed up by a marine rubbing compound and to top it off, the wax job. tough and menial work, but sure brings out the "new(ish)" look again and in my opinion, well worth it.
the boat looks great! chalk another one up for whalers outlasting the odds!
