Anyone have an idea on how to find a shop that can make a bow rail or modify one. I mounted trolling motor on 07 170 montauk and the head height when deployed is at the rail height. I thought I could have someone bend and weld on another rail 4=6 inches above the existing center section and then cut out existing center. I tried some welding shops but forming a new piece seems to be a problem for everyone so far. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. John.

You`ve already made your decision to go with a bow mount trolling motor, but I like the stern mount better, for simplicity`s sake, it is less expensive, and I can steer with the steering wheel, and cast from the middle of the boat.

Rich, Thanks but the rear has swim/step on one side and merc 6 hp on tanner ind bracket on the other. I had front rail cut and an extension welded in but the motor head still is a problem. I also installed bow seat so I can fish from front and my buddy fishes the rear. John.

John,

Can you send me a picture of what you did so far for your bow mount? I am looking at ways to build a bow mount for my 13 Sport. I have contacted Minn Kota and asked for some suggestions. Also a place near me called the troll motor doctor has a few ideas. I also have some pictures of bow mount for the Whaler that I had been saving as examples.
