Yes, heard that they indeed were out and have already been doing my homework. Talked to my insurance agent, and no problem with them with mounting twin 130's. also talked to the coast guard (unofficially) and no problems there either. I still need to check with the Texas Parks and Wildlife, but am pretty sure i will have a green light to repower in a year or so with the 130's. Still have a lot of work to do to finish my house and Raggedy, and get her sold, then i plan on concentrating on the new boat. With my new found enjoyment of offshoring it (all Texas whalers fault) plan on wrapping all the above up, and slapping twins on the new boat. :D
I will no doubt have a ton of questions as to the counter rotations, shaft lenghts, adding tramsom like Texas Whaler did, but plenty of time to plan all that out.
Dang, if i didn't have a boat to work on, i might have to get a wife!! ;)

Duf,
I accept full responsibility for your interest in twin engines after fishing in my boat offshore. Life is too short and you can't take it with you....

Trust me John, i fully plan on picking your brain for the forementioned items, raised transom, counter rotations etc. However, i will feed you good grain steak on the back porch while we discuss logistics!! :D

Less then 30lbs more per motor and you can have a 135-175 V6 Optimax with much better performance and fuel economy. That V6 won't work nearly as hard as that V4 Etec. If you are restricted to using the 115, that Etec V4 would be my choice over the 3 cyl Opti 115 though.

Bob, chances are i will stay with my ETECS as i'm seriously impressed with the fuel and oil use and how quiet they are. My only problem to-date has been an over heating problem, which speaking of, may in part been self inflicted by me, but more on that later when i pick my boat up today and see what the heck my mechanic is talking about.
Regardless, bottom line i am open for suggestions and stats on comparisons of all make engines. I have about a year to decide, and will go for whatever has the best warantee, a dealer nearby, fuel and oil comsumption and reputation. A 7 year warantee would be VERY hard to pass up on any of the main makes!! But, first in line today is the ETEC but as always opinions are appreciated! ;)
