I talked to Bob Mills this morning, of Mills Canvas, regarding a new Forward Shelter and other items for a 1973-1977 19 Outrage.
Bob told me that he has had very little demand for the FLying Top set on this particular model, and had fit problems with the last one he tried to do.
They have all the original patterns for the tan cotton duck canvas system that were made when the boat was current, but have found out that transposing these patterns to the Toast Sunbrella has not worked very well, with a disappointed customer on the last one tried.
So Bob told me before he could do anything, he really needs to have a 19 Outrage in his shop, so he can work directly from it. For me, that's at least a 1000 mile trip each way, so both of us were wondering if there are any owners on Long Island or otherwise nearby, who would be willing to bring their 19 to Mills' shop in Greenport so he could correctly re-pattern the full canvas system for the 19's.
Any responses would be appreciated by both of us. It seems there are several 19's being restored which might then be able to use a newly updated Mills canvas system. He could also use this boat for a mooring cover prototype, for which no design was ever done either.

I will be wanting to add a bow dodger to my Outrage but the chances of getting it to his shop anytime before next year are slim and none. I would be willing to do it when the project gets to that point, but as you have seen from my pics... Im quite far from that point.
How long will they need it?
