On friday the 13th of june my son and I went to put my boat in the water for the first time of the season. A couple of days before I had the boat started so not to make a fool out of myself at the ramp and there were no problems. Anyway Jake and I stopped at the hess station for gas and the gas attendent told me they were out of gas but i could try and fill up. I was down to only 50 gallons so I went and put another 50 in for a fill. The whole time im filling I just thought with the price of gas I was getting jipped because I was getting the bottom of the barrel and when I finished they closed down the pumps. We left the station and went directly to the ramp. We backed the boat off the trailer and while my son was holding the boat i parked my truck. Than i jumped in the boat and turned the key and just like the movies the boat exploded it blew me up into the ttop and i got stitches and my son kept yelling for me to get out of the boat because i was on fire finally i snapped out of it and rolled onto the dock and into the water. My son was a hero to me that night and with all that happed i only walked away with a few stitches and no burns..God blessed me that night and thats why friday the 13th was a lucky night for me. It is unbeliveable that you weren't hurt more that you were or even killed! Was it ever determined what caused the fire? God was looking over you and your son that day. Below is the link for the video

It hasnt been determined yet but i believe it had to do with having the boat pumped up with fumes since they were out of gas

Amazing story. Thank God you weren't hurt badly. I still don't understand how it could have exploded. If it would have been an inboard motor I could understand... I guess there is an investigation going on?

yeah im glad you noticed...she was a little weird and her comment when she said "what was he doing besides blowing himself up" was totaly off the wall ...oh well i really dont think she ment anything by it..

yeah i think she just left happy hour ... hopfully she wasnt driving:-O
