A friend has a 1989 or 84, can't remember which, super sport for sale. excellent condition, 40 hp yamaha with tilt feature, trailer, bimini top (I think), custom cover. He's asking $6400. Is this a reasonable price? He is in Louisiana.

Is it bottom painted? Is the motor original? How many hours? Salt or fresh water use? By excellent condition are you saying glossy gelcoat - well kept wood, no crazing or cracking anywhere in the gelcoat?

Assuming original power $6400 may be a bit high - but if its a showroom condition boat - then all bets are off....

Charles,
Welcome aboard. If you know the boat and its use in the past you judge the condition pretty well. I think for an 89 that might be a bit high but for an 84 I think it definitely is high. What kind and year is the trailer?

Thanks. I'll ask the owner these questions. Also, would a 25 hp Yamaha push this boat adequately?

I was pretty stunned when I saw my friends 25 horsepower, about a 1993, push his 13 foot whaler it does move, Ill tell you that. But the engine all depends on how you will use it. personally I have a 40 but 25 will get you moving, and up on plane and then some. if its just 1 to 4 people going on your whaler 25 HP is definitely enough but if you are someone who will try to fit like 6 people on the tiny little boat then you might want something a little bigger.
