I just noticed that the ranks and stars next to our names are missing. I thought that was a pretty cool novelty.

I personally did not care for them. I saw beginning people people posting for example to "land lubber" or "captain" and not to persons real screen name. I thought it was confusing and redundant since everyones post count is shown.
On the bright side....anyone notice the search feature works a helluva lot better?

No,
The world is scheduled to end tomorrow at 3am EST when scientists at the CERN partial accelerator in Switzerland will attempt to recreate a big bang. They are hoping to not create a black hole and suck the world as we know it into it.

I didn't notice they were gone until it was brought up in this thread, but I did notice that some members were doing a lot of 1 or 2 word postings and comments in what appeared to be a way of adding to their numbers. ............Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah No one would do such a thing would they? ;)

I am glad they are gone -- just creates more reasons to post useless information to get a better rank.

Hell, i didn't know that postings equated to rank, just figured Jeff, Joe and the other Admin guys decided who was what :D Speaking of Big Bangs, all you Texas Whalers and other boaters, button down cause here comes Ike. We starting shutdown procedures at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, but the entire Texas Gulf Coast is at risk at the moment. Its what happens when you are bigger then anything else on the Gulf (almost). Best of luck riding this out and be safe!

I'm also happy that they are gone.
And I'm glad that I'll be asleep for the end of the world. I'd hate to be sucked into a black hole while I was awake.

We'll have you and your fellow Texans in our prayers and hope that it hits somwhere that is less poplulated. Having gone through Hugo with a direct hit we are well aware of the anxiety that comes before and after the storm. Looking forward to the season to by pass us again this year. Not wishing it on anyone else though!

Down here in south fl, we just grit our teeth and weather (no pun intended) the storm. Sometimes I gotta be McGyver just to stay alive. All kidding aside just be prepared.

I was just getting ready to be promoted to Captain!! That's a big deal to us ex-Navy guys!
Duf, good luck with the storm, looks like she's bearing right down on you. Though the storm is on track to head northeastward towards Dallas after it makes landfall, it'll be nothing more than a rain event for us.
Take care and stock up on your beer!
