I'm new on this, I just bought a 13' Boston whaler 2001 Sport.
My question is, what is the max RPM tha I can run this motor without damage it.
When I have to go fast for 5 or 10 minutes I don't go oevr 3600 RPM because I'm afreid that I'm going to damage the motor, can anyone help me on this?
Thanks.

Passos, you should easily be able to handle 5,000rpms or more. 3,600 rpms is barely cruising RPM.

If you have a manual for your motor it will be in there. Mine doesn't go to 2001. If you don't have one I would suggest you get one.

Congratulations on a good purchase. I have the same boat and motor (40 HP Mercury 2 stroke). You're gonna love that boat!
I routinely run mine at 5200-5500 with a light load and full throttle. The manual says between 5000-6000 RPM at full throttle. You should barely be on plane with one person at the RPMs you state.
If you need a replacement prop for that inevitable rock or log strike, I have two available of the ones that come with that motor (slightly used).
