I'm about to buy (maybe) a 2001 Dauntless 16 with 100 HP Yamaha. Not sure yet if it has power trim. How much importance is that on this boat and is it a deal breaker? What would it cost to add if it's not so equipped. I have no pics of that area of the boat yet but seller didn't know what power trim even was !
I had heard that the Dauntless 16 can ride stern heavy w/o PT. ???

Mark,
Highly doubt the motor will not have power trim on it. I do not even think Yamaha offered the 100hp motor with out it in 2001. If it does not have it the motor can be retro fit with it for under $500 for a used kit and $1000 with a new one.

Good thing. I wish I had a power trim on my 40 hp Yami. Defintely makes things a little easier in shallow water.

If the power trim and tilt is not working I would ask the owner to reduce the asking price by at least $500, and more if you are not able to do the labor to install yourself. They pop up on e-bay and are expensive, probably the most expensive part on a parts motor.
