Well I just bought my first Whaler a 1998 Dauntless 13. Launched her for the first time today after cleaning it for the last week.Looks great and runs nice. My first question is, should the rigging tunnel be filling up with water? After I ran it I opened up the roung screw hatch and ,viola water! So after I pulled her out and got her on the trailer I pulled the plug and allowed the water to drain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How much water? I have a similar thing that occurs with my Montauk. Every time I come out no matter how short and dry of a boat ride it was I have water in my rigging tunnel. Here is my theory -- When I wash the boat on the trailer it sits level. Water gets in the tunnel and stays there till the next time I have the boat out. When I pull up the ramp to load and remove the plug on a steeper angle the water drains out. I run the boat often and store it inside so it never really ever has time to dry out. Not a bunch of water but enough to make you go hummmm. ;)

My boat is on a trailer. After washing it down, I crank up the trailer jack on the front wheel allowing all the water to drain aft. I then use a sponge to get it dry. It takes a while to drain aft with the wires & cables I have it there.
