I'm considering buying a 1991 17 foot Outrage. The only thjing that I don't like about the boat is that it has a "leaning bar or hip seat", not the regular seat that you see on most Montdauks or Outrages.

Does anyone on the list know where I could buy a regular seat or alternatively, maybe I could cut off the existing leaning bar and fabricate a reasonable seat.

Ray -

I presume you are looking for the Reversible Pilot Seat (RPS) as shown on my personal page.

The 1991-95 Outrage 17 had a fiberglass back with cushion, whereas the 80's Montauk and Outrages had a teak back without a cushion.

Unfortunately, these are no longer made as a whole unit. Once a year, a member might sell a set of legs, cushion or back.

I do recall seeing a thread where someone ordered a set of swing arms, one of the hardest items to find, after the legs.

As for seating, have you considered replacing what is there with an after-market leaning post with a back?
I found this photo at Arrigon Design Website

Given the narrow width, I am not sure two pedestal seats would fit.
