I have a brand new 2007 Mercury 25hp four stroke engine. It is tiller operated. I would like to put a center console in my boat. I was wondering if there was a remote throttle control for this motor. I have looked around the merucry website but have been unable to find anything. Are there any aftermarket products that do this? The side opposit the tiller has a little panel that say throttle, shift, start, etc which looks like it would be the place to put one in. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can convert it. You need to talk to someone at Mercury or you probably won't find what your looking for.

I just installed a new 25 4 stroke EFI Merc with remote controls on my 13 footer. I would buy the remote control kit, a set of 8` cables, and I think you can convert it yourself. The remote kit has instructions on how to hook up the controls and harness. behind that plate that says shift etc. is the linkage. After you remove the tiller handle and all the aparatus, it should become evident on how to connect everything up. Check with Tohatsu/Nisson also, becuase that motor IS a Tohatsu/Nisson, not really a Merc, except by name. You also will need a steering link, and the little bracket that the link bolts to on the motor, very simple. Or else hook up to cable and pulley steering as I did, but you will have to make a bracket.

Oops, I just noticed you wrote center console, cable and pulley steering won`t work. You might save yourself a lot of work with a side console, becuase you don`t have the problem of routing the steering and controls cables.
