My 28 conquest is powered by twin Yamaha 225hp 4-stroke engines. In the past two weeks I have had the engines quit on me one at a time but usually loosing both within a minute of each other. The boat has two 150 g. gas tanks and each tank can supply each engine. The engines have quit while drawing gas from both tanks. The first time this happened I noticed the primer bulbs were flat and after pumping them we were good to go. As a side note we have owned the boat for two years and have never before pumped the primer bulbs. We guessed we may have a gas filter clogging but have still had the problem after replacing the filters and both primer bulbs. The problem also is intermittent. We can run for 3 hrs (trolling and also at high rpms) without a problem and then have both engines unexpectedly quit while coming in to our slip. The engines run great otherwise and the problem is usually solved by pumping the primer bulbs (which are always very flat after the engines quit). We are guessing we have an air leak somewhere in the gas line or less likely something blocking a line. Any ideas???

Do each of the tanks share a vent? Often, if a primer bulb goes flat, one culprit is a clogged vent line.

That is a classic sign of a vent line being crimped or clogged.

What year is the boat? Might be time to change the fuel lines. The vent line should have a loop in it but after a while it might sag and not vent as should.

We had a problem like this years ago but was a very unusual problem and hard to find. What we had was fresh grass clippings in the tank. Don't know how they got there. When a piece of grass would close off the line, the engine would die. When that pressure released, the grass fell off. Then we were good to go until another piece of grass closed off the line. You may have some trash in the tank causing a similar problem. It's out there, but worth a look.
