Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Center console 13

This may be a nuts idea, but I want a center console 13. Would it be doable to remove the side console and it's attached seat, from a newer super sport 13, and install a center console? Wish they still made the 13 Dauntless but can't find one (yet) anywhere in the West. I will be patient and one may well show up in a few months or so, but just wondered about the conversion possibility. Would end up with a much newer boat as well.

Who makes these console to install...Whaler or aftermarket. How would one route the control cables?

Any other comments on this most welcome...

Mark,
I certainly understand your eagerness to get a boat. It drives us to do crazy things. I think that the Dauntless you are looking for is a very different boat than a sport model in both size and weight and ride. I've never been in a Dauntless, but it seems to be quite a bit larger overall. If you put a center console in a sport model you won't even come close to getting a Dauntless. Have you tried "boattrader.com" and other sites? There are a few out there for sale. If you are patient I'm sure you can find what you want.

Moose...

Yeah, good point..not the same hull. I will be patient and keep looking. I check here, Craigslisty, ebay, boat trader but dunno any other spots. Guess I'm just saddened that I didn't get that one in Dallas. Oh well...must be a reason...

Mark,
You will get the boat your meant to have. Can you move up to the 16 Dauntless so you can have more options for boats? I am guessing the smaller boats of any type in good shape are moving fast. I know the Danutless 16 is a great boat and handles and rides like a much larger boat.

Hey,

I just built a center console 13 this last winter and have a pic on my personal page. Take a look at the last photo at the bottom of my page.

Lots of work, but totally worth it.

Dogface,

Have you thought about a used 15? Here's a WC member who is selling his who lives in Reno...

Mark,

I have a 13' with a CC. I have a few pics my personal page. I glassed a piece of plywood to the deck and mounted the CC on top. It is a great set up for 1-2 people.

Just looked at it....VERY nice work and end product. I'm not skilled enough to do that.
