Well, for the first time I took out my 1986 Montauk last weekend. I still need to play around with it to work some issues out, but it felt good to get it out on the water. The only issue I had with it is the way the motor was idling. It just kept dying at idle. I think I will try taking the plugs out and changing them and maybe taking the carbs apart and cleaning them out. Hopefully I'll get to that this coming weekend or so.

Glad you got to take it out for the initial run.

Do you have fresh fuel?
New fuel bulb and lines?

Just a couple other things to consider before rebuilding the carbs.
You could also run some seafoam through the engine and see if that helps.

Use a high concentration, like the whole can in a 6 gal tank or less... :p

Good Luck

Thanks for the advice Jon.....

Great, the stuff seems to work almost all the time on margin cases of clogged up carbs.

ED, BTW were you out on GWL Sunday? I was out late afternoon let me know when you go out...B)

Thanks Guys!! Someone else also told me about that stuff today. I'll definitely try that soon. I have about 10 gals of fresh gas in my tank right now so how much you think I should put in there? Thanks alot!!!

Seafoam; Is it any different than say, Marvel Mystery Oil?

I think i'm going to rub some Seafoam on my shin the next time I slice it open jumping off the boat while it's on the trailer. It should work on bald spots as well. My dog has a bum leg right now, a little Seafoam mixed 1:3 in his water bowl should work to clean him out a bit..... You gotta love the stuff....

BTW, after my success with the Old Yammer i ran a can through my 5.0 liter Explorer and it completely erased a nagging misfire.

how much seafoam did you put into the tank of your Explorer? How many gals of gas were in your fuel tank?

I had a full tank so ~20g and dumped nearly a full can in the tank.
