I'm not sure if this is the correct name or not. I have a 1979 Outrage 20 and the eye that you hook the trailer winch cable to is becoming very loose. I am not able to tighten it up. I think I may need to cut it and have it replaced. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows where I might be able to buy a new one, that would be great.

Whaler used Lock-Tite on the threads of the bow and stern eyes. They will simply unscrew if you apply enough pressure. Sometimes heat from a heat gun or torch can be judiciously applied to soften the Lock-Tite's grip.

It takes two people on the bow eye of the larger boats. One to hold a large screw driver through the bow eye to prevent it from turning while you unscrew the lifting eye from the inside of the hull.

It is very important to unscrew the lifting eye and NOT the bow eye because there are two little protrusions on the backside of the bow eye casting that dig into the gel coat and help prevent it from turning with normal use. If you try to unscrew the bow eye itself, it will chip the fiberglass.

Thanks very much for the reply and information. It is much appreciated. I think I have already sustained some fiberglass damage. I will need to have it repaired once I get the bow eye bolt out. I will try some liquid wrench and get some help from two of my biggest friends.
