Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Console Rodholder Tubing

What type of tubing can be used for making the console rod holders? I checked out pvc tubing at the local hardware store and schedule 40 appears to be too thick. Can heat be used to flare the tops?

There is also a link in that article that points to the Console Rod Holder drawing which is available for download in the downloads section:

The drawing states 200 PSI PVC tubing. Schedule 40 is much too thick.
The 200 PSI is identical in thickness to the original tubes and can be flared.
