I Finished all engine repair work (boat in driveway finally ready ), my engine and "splash well" were a complete mess of oil, Kroil, WD-40, Marine grease, silicone spray. I used a strong concentration of "Purex" ultra concentrate laundry detergent with a "little bit" of water in a bucket, I soaked some rags in the bucket, then went to work, result's were fantastic, so I kept going, every time I soaked and wrang out the rag, it was like totally clean again, I kept going and did the engine too, WOW :o, detergents sure are powerful now, it broke the grease right down, little effort, fast too... figured I'd pass this on.

I'm glad you didn't say gasoline. I know gas works, but some people get so careless and spill it all over themselves and the floor and have a bunch of gas soaked rags laying around. :o

Not only will you light yourself on fire, but you'll continue to burn in hell for destroying your childrens future by messing up the apmosphere.

Great tip MW :D

I finally got water born yesterday, I "putt putted" down the "HOT" back creek to the wind on the open Bay and "Nailed the throttle", brought the stick back to "Cruise" speed, lifted off a small wave, took some salt spray to the face, licked it off "Yea baby, this is what we're talkin about", blasted around for a while, docked, stopped and got some fresh fried clam's on the way home, ate, fell back with exhaustion, fat, dumb, and VERY happy to have fixed my boat in the driveway, Thank's to all that helped, I had to borrow some tool's, advice, some muscle, and help. I struggled but, "Never gave up the ship", it paid off big time !

Moral of the story: "Don't use GAS".

My Favorite place is "Bigelow's" New England Fried clam's (79 Long Beach rd in Rockville Centre)
Long Beach Rd & Sunrise Hwy. A real Clam Hut where You sit around the outside of the counter, and they serve you from the middle, been that way since 1939

**** 4 stars (NY times)

I didn't realize how close you guys are. I am out of Bensonhurst Brooklyn currently. I really need to get my boat somewhere on Long Island!!! It kills me to have my boats so far away from me.

There is alot of great boating here on the south shore of Long Island. Keep an eye on Craigs List Long Island in the boat sectiona nd you will see plenty of people renting slips or spots at there house.

I have never rented a slip before. What kind of money are you talking about? Do they provide anything besides a slip? Parking? Where is this slip located?
