I am a new Boston Whaler owner. I was hoping someone could confirm the factory specifications for a 1993 Outrage 21'. The boat I bought earlier today has a 30" transom and a maximum hp rating of 300 hp.

I was under the impression the 1993-1997 boats had 25" transoms and 225 hp max limits. Did I happen to buy a Justice/Commercial model, or are they all with the bigger transom/hp rating during these years? I really appreciate the help and am really excited about the boat (it's my 7th boat) but one I have been really looking forward to!

The 1993-1997 Outrage 21 was always rated for 300 HP maximum.

The standard transom height from 1993-1996 was 25" (notched) for a single outboard with the option of a 30" transom for a single (25" twins). In 1997 only the taller 30" transom was available.

Thanks so much Tom. That makes perfect sense. Another question please, I can't seem to see any difference in the specs of my 1993 21' and the current 21' Justice, is it the same boat?

Lastly...I promise....:D My boat has no power currently, any thoughts on performance with twin 90 Yamaha 2 strokes? Seen a lot of debate by searching the site but nothing conclusive, nor have I found anyone running these engines on this exact boat.

Thanks...Alex

Alex,

The 21' Justice is based on the 21' Outrage Accutrack hull but weighs more because it is more robustly constructed.

I have not owned or operated a 21' Outrage so I van only speculate but I suspect twin Yamaha 90s would be a bit anemic and it would not plane with only one motor. I have typically seen this model powered by single 200 or 225 HP outboards (usually the latter) or twin 150s. That is telling.
