Ive got a problem with my 2002 Johnson 90hp idling. I had water in the tank and replaced all the gas lines. The gas seems to be free of water but the engine will still not idle over 5 - 10 seconds. Is it possible water is still in there? If I manually play with timing advance (I think) on the top, it will run fine at a higher rpm but just not at low speeds. It doesnt skip at all, it just wont stay running. PLease help...

Sounds like one of the low speed jets or passages may be clogged... Especially if it ran fine before the water in the tank, ruling out other problem areas. Can you pull the carbs and blow out all the passage ways, check the float needle seats, and clean the bowls?

You may be able to drain the bowls first.... Check to see if there is brass nut (drain) toward the bottom of the bowls (may be on the sides). If there is residual water in there it will sit at the bottom of the bowls. This has happened to me and draining them worked. Then run seafaom through it. That may do the trick before pulling carbs.
Happy 4th... yeah Baby B)

I had a similiar problem. I cleaned out the carb bowls and also shot some carb cleaner through the jets. Motor runs great now. You might have to take off the carbs and spray the jets anyway.....just to be sure to get all the gunk out.
