We are looking at a 1986 18' Outrage. It has a newer 150 Yamaha. The teak has been refinished. Help us- what do we look for other than spider webbing on the hull? This is a freshwater boat. This will be our first Whaler -we also have a 30' Rinker cruiser. Advice is needed! Thanks all!

Have a look at this thread....
Whaler shopping thread
The second post (by Jeff) contains a great inspection document - this will aide you tremendously in what to look for and to make sure you are taking everything into account. Jeff put a lot of work in this and its a must have for a Whaler shopper.
Good luck

Besides everything obvious that you can see, look at the fuel tank cover or floorboard.
This fuel tank cover is about 4 feet wide and 8 or 9 feet long...
If the floor has any soft spots, then you would be in for a lot of work.
And then underneath the cover is the fuel tank. Open up all the deck plates and look at the condition of the tank. Can you smell any fuel? Do you see any fuel floating on any water?
This obviously is not good....
Is there any fuel in the tank? If so, how much....
Probably the 2 most important items that people take for granted is the fuel tank cover and the fuel tank.... Make sure you look at those 2 items closely...
