Just brought my 62 whaler home and have started on the clean up, the blue gel coat is comming back nice with some compound and elbow grease. I am having a problem from a previous owner who must have varnished the console without masking the floor and now I am trying to get the stuff of the non-skid surface. Any Ideas?

Try rubbing compound for fiberglass boats (I like 3M brand). Buff it out before it gets too hard, or it will be much harder to get out of the non-skid. If you have a buffer with a wool bonnet, that works best. You can get a wool bonnet kit that works in your drill at the local hardware store, and that will do the job as well.
