I have been looking for a 13' Whaler and have just looked at a 1984. The boat is beautiful except for the sides and some bumps (look like blisters) on the bottom of the hull. Both sides are wavy and have an orange peal appearance as if they were sanded and painted but there is no sign of over spray or tape lines (tape line could have been wet sanded away but the color matches perfectly). There is no orange peal on any surfaces other than the sides. On the bottom of the hull there are 3 areas abour 3 inches in diameter with bumps ( looks like paint over water drops) and a row of these bumps along a lifting strake. I have not seen other Whalers this vintage so I was woundering how true the molds were in 1984 and if there were blistering problems on these hulls. Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks.

KED. One guy you should talk to is Protek9543. He has restored several 13's and is currently finishing up a 1984 model. When the hull arrived at his house, the bottom was cover with dime sized blisters. He had to grind each one away and fill them in order to have a smooth bottom. Right now he is in the process of priming and painting the hull. He also filled a few blisters that were on my 1966 hull as well. Good luck!
