I am mounting a Honda 20 on my 13 - When I put it on last night it seemed that the mounting bolts are about a half a hole off. It could have been I was tired at that point and lost patience.

Does anyone know if the Honda and Evinrude have the same mounting pattern. I tried to do a quick search online and haven't found anything on the subject.

Thanks!

Scott,

I am assuming that you mean the holes are off side to side...

What year engine are you replacing?
The standard BIA mounting holes have been the same for many years so not sure why.

If they are off up and down, then raise the engine slightly as the engine should be just slightly off the top of the transom.... I know this sounds stupid but I don't want to miss the obvious as you said you were tired last night.

You know Joe, I have been thinking about this all day - the boat is home - I honestly don't remember which way they are off - You work all day- come home have dinner - get to work on the boat - then last minute figure lets grab that little Honda out of the truck and throw it on - well even though its a 20 - it didn't feel so little... I just looked it up in the manual...Its 134 Pounds - it was a bit awkward just for me I guess. Sure felt heavy. I'm sure that I just need to lift up or over or something.... I will post tonight when I mess with it - Hopefully its just something simple like lift the motor up dummy......:o:@:(:D

To answer the first question - Evinrude was a 1998 - Honda is a 2004.

Well - I must have been really really tired.... I was trying to mount using the same hole the previous owner had used as well as the same hole my Evinrude had used. I could not get it as the bracket was hitting the transom. I had to mount the motor using the lowest hole - But it worked. The cav plate looks to be in the proper position to boot. I will post the other pics on my thread about the rehab - Here is the motor mount hole pic.... sorry for the brainfart and wasted electrons... Thanks Joe!
