Rich,
I would first start off by downloading your favorite avatar from our downloads section just to test it out.
http://www.whalercentral.com/download...?cat_id=10
Once you have one downloaded, then go to the right sidebar under your name and click on "Edit Profile"... At the bottom of the Edit Profile window there is a section where you choose the file you want to upload as your avatar.
Then you can find free avatars on the Internet that you like and upload it, or, make one from a photo you have. The size needs to be 100x100 pixels...

Joe, I am having as difficult time as Binkie. I've uploaded pictures into photo bucket, resized them to an avatar 100 X 75 pixels and then saved it on my hard drive. Then I uploaded the picture from my hard drive per your directions. When I look at my profile or comments after attempting to load the avatar, I do not see the avatar at all. What do I do now? Is my account locked up somehow?

We seem to be experiencing some image problems for some members Personal Pages and Avatars.
We are investigating.

Thanks Joe.
Here's the image I am trying to upload as an avatar. This particular one is from the photobucket.

JayR,
I logged in as you and was able to successfully add an avatar.
All,
Keep in that the avatar photo must be:
max of 100px x 100px
have a file extension of ".jpg" - all lower case (without quotes)
max filesize of 30kb
I was also able to add avatars to a couple test users. Hopefully this is working as designed now. But let us know if the problems continue for any of you.
Thanks,
Mike

Testing... I say testing, boy, my ability to change avatars.
It seems I can, but on the other hand, I'm not getting the usual button for Preview Reply

I reduced and renamed the photo for my avatar and it seemed to upload fine as an avatar, but I couldn't get it to load in my main photo section, kept saying incorrect file type?
