Hi! New Montauk (1986) owner here and I'm doing some repair work/updating on it. Anyway, my question is for any one who can help: In attaching the teak rod holder mounts and PVC rodholder assembly to the center console, do I need to seal either end of the hardware (i.e. inside the center console or outside the center console) with a sealant? If so, what kind is recommended? Thanks in advance for any help.

pontis,
I have never sealed any of the console rod holders on my boats and never experienced any leakage from rain, etc... If you really wanted to put sealant there, I would just put a little clear silicone under the washer and bolt on the inside of the console. If you ever take the rod holders off to refinish them, the silicone wouldn't make it difficult to get off.

I'll second that. I haven't used any sealant in this location either, but it couldn't hurt to have a blob of silicone in there.
