I just bought an Old Whaler off craigs list for 300 bucks!!!
can any one help with Id?, No vin numbers and the seats and side console have been replaced. it looks to be from the 60,s, has a access hole in the floor near the bow with a tube running thru the floor to the bilge pump well, has the old bow light, cleat assy on the bow. any ideas of the age?

the #s have a few coats of paint over them, its 16 foot from bow to stern , I thought somone might know from looking at it

If you want to find out the year, you are going to have to get some of that paint off.
The stencil number should be on the inside of the transom in the center between the engine bolts.
You might also look in the forward locker to see if any numbers are there.

I scraped some paint and found the number, its 39612, per the serial number its a 1968 "16" Currituck!!
Now the restoration starts, any one have a supplier for the correct color of gelcoat for the interrior and hull? I want to bring her back to orignial .

gsbilgerat, you were about 3 hours ahead of me on that boat. I saw it before I headed off to church and was going to call when I returned home but the posting was gone. Everything you will need to know you can find on this site. Just takes a little time to dig for it but thats what makes it fun and addictive. I may have to drop by to see how its going . Spectrum color makes the gelcoat. I don't know if they have large quantities or just small patch quantities
