Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Replacement light socket

I picked up a bow light for the 13, in ok condition. I expected to have to rechrome the light and was not disappointed. I also have to replace the socket since the old one is very rusted and plastic and not sure I can repair it. Anyone know of a replacement socket that will fit. The inside diameter of the opening is 1/4 of an inch and the length for the plastic fixture is 9/16th of an inch.
I have posted photo's on my personal page.

Should I manage to repair/replace the socket, how does this version get installed? I am going to guess that one drills holes up thru the bow to run the bolts, sealing all with caulk?

Thanks

kamie,

rfiglia sent this link to me. He said that the socket and lens fit his original bow light.
You can't go wrong at the price if it works.

you could also run a couple of LEDs up there and use electrical tape to make a "plug", or run the wire through a rubber stopper to secure it in place.

Low energy consumption, and easy.

Couldn't you use the old casing and insert a new socket into it by gluing or securing in some other fashion? It shouldn't matter what kind of bulb goes in it as long as it fits the old assembly

Thanks Joe, I will probably pick one up and give it a shot.

ioptfm, That is exactly what I am trying to do. I don't really care if it's an exact replica, so long as it fits.
