Hi folks, well after 11 years without I'm picking up my new to me 17 montauk on Friday. Pre kids my wife and I restored a teak 1989 montauk to perfection.
My son is now 10 and my daughter 8 . A chance trip to a local boat yard found a tired but unabused teak 17 montauk badged 1989 fitted with a 50 HP four stroke Yamaha ( only 10 hours since 1999 when new).
I love these boats for our local beautiful Poole harbour and local coast. It might be a little underengined ( I used to have a merc 90 2 stroke on my original montauk)but Im hopeful for 35 mph and a litte sking or boarding for the kids plus a great bass fishing platform for me and the missus.
Is it cool to post the resto project on here and learn from your expertise?
First thing I need is a source for a forward hatch area cushion in the original material. Its really hard to find that sort of thing here in the uk at reasonable cost ?
thanks

Andy -
There is only one place I know to find the original material and that is from Lois at Halls Nautical in Florida, USA. She produces matching cushions as well custom ones. She does not sell the material separately. I think she will ship to you without a problem.
You should try and call her since she is not a fan of email. Contact information is in the Sponsor list. I replaced my rod and cooler cushions with her. See the bottom of my personal page for a photo.
Please build a personal page and post any questions on your project.
Cheers.
