I recently purchased an '89 18' Outrage. I need to replace an 8" deckplate that flew off in transit. I ordered a new one form Beckson, who I understand has mfg'd for Whaler for many years. Problem is that the new plate does not fit the old base. Guess a few years ago they changed design slightly. The diameter is the same but problem I'm having is how to remove the old base, which is partially under the center console and need to drill out the rivits to remove. Does anyone know where I can locate an older base plate that would fit into my existing base? Thanks!

Peter,

You can use a right angle drill to drill out the rivets of the old Deck Plate.
Then use screws to put in the new Deck Plate.

Strange the new Deck Plate doesn't fit the old one.
I'll have to check mine out later.
