To quote Gerry Garcia, "what a long strange trip its been." Since 2003 I upgraded my 18' Whaler to a 25' Parker Pilothouse, and then to a 21' Parker CC, and now to a 21' Whaler walkaround. Phew! Silly I know, but now I believe I have the protection I want, like my 25' Parker had, but in a manageable 21' size. I am embarrassed I traded as often as I had, and I am hopeful that I am in my last boat (famous last words!) Here she is.... the new and final Mary Alice:

It looks like the description on the side of the Whaler says "205 Conquest".... ?
I believe that is different than the original 21' Walkaround which were made from 1991-1993.

It is a 2007 205 Conquest, Joe. I was referring to the general style earlier, and you are correct in that I should be more specific. It is also powered by a generation I Verado 175hp motor with DTS. It has ridden real well in the paces I put her through this weekend past.

It has as options a fishing package, weather curtain package, trim tabs, and a stereo with sattelite radio I am thinking of just taking out (the salt air around me will likely do a number on it anyways). I bought it as a leftover from McCarthy's Marine, who could not have been any nicer to deal with.

I have bought new boats from Schrader's, Hance and Smythe, OBM Lanoka, and now McCarthy's. Everyone knows how foolish I have been flipping boats, and I am not proud of it. I am also pretty sure I am into my last boat now. Stop laughing. I mean it.

Anyways, my experience at Hance was good. Schrader's was decent too. And I really liked Alan at OBM Lanoka, who is now gone. But the best experience I have had hands down, in terms of straight talk, good treatment, and "above and beyond" factor, was with Ed McCarthy at McCarthy's Marine. I would go out of my way to deal with him again. He did everything right. Price. Free install and rigging. Great regarding my trade. Delivered to my dock 10 miles away from his shop. He replaced caulking on the deck because he didn' t like the way it looked (not part of the deal). Accessibility (cell phone always picks up and talks).

If you have the good fortune to want to buy one of his new or used boats, or make use of his top trained service and Verado staff (they deal Yammie and Etec too), do so knowing you will be treated like gold....like you would be by your neighbor of 30 years. That is a really nice looking boat. Enjoy! How do you like the DTS? Does it have Smartcraft? I would be interested to know what its going to burn per hour. I dont think anyone is laughing at you. Your lucky enough to have had 3 different boats and now realize what you love. You seem lucky to me.
