hi
I am about to mount an RPS to the deck of my 18' Outrage and I am hoping someone can tell me the distance to the console from the front of the Z Legs?
I will also have a wraparound stern seat so that distance will need to be as tight as will be comfortable.
Thanks in advance.

The distance from the bottom of the console to the the front of the Z leg is
18 inches
I would also measure the distance from the back of the leg to the splashwell just to make sure the distance is the same from each back leg to the splashwell. I have seen consoles put in crooked before so if you just measure from the rear of the console to the Z legs on each side you could be putting the seat in crooked to match the crooked console if that is the case. You don't want that.

Install your stern seat first. As far back as you can, keeping in mind your outboard needs to be able to fully tilt up in an emergency. Then install the RPS. Decide where the RPS is comfortable for you to drive from, either standing or sitting. Walk around the deck, there really isn't lots of room with both installed. Once you tweek it to your liking, then even it out and mount it.

thanks for the good advice.
Next question is that I have the stern seat out of a Montuak so the hardware is wrong.
so any ideas on that?

Your width is going to be wrong as well. The Stern seat for the 18 is 68 inches wide. What mounting hardware do you have from the Montauk? You can hunt for someone that has hardware they want to sell or call CMI marine for the back support.
