My new boat is powered by the 150XL Optimax. I was looking at the engine performance data which the 190 Nantucket (Outrage) can be powered with and noticed that the nosie db(A) level of the 150 is noticably higher then the other three outboards.

Please post comments if you have a 135XL or the 150XL Optimax. I'm looking for feedback on exactly how much noise the outboards produce.

Here's the link for the four outboards: B)

Thank you,

There must be something wrong with the data as it is reported. Look at the twin 150 Opti data on the 240OR. Twins are not as loud. Even the 225 single is not as loud.

Having run both of them the 135 is a little esier on the ears, but not that noticable.

Hope this helps Ron.B)

I recently bought a boat powered with a 135 Optimax, and I found it annoyingly louder than my previous motor, a 2 stroke Yamaha. I don't doubt the 150 Optimax is loud, as it is essentially the same motor as the 135.

You can tell a 150 OptiMax is going by in the harbor. In my opinion, the loudest outboard at lower speeds I've ever heard.
