Does this engine require "Professional" Rabbit ears (feed's water from both sides of the rabbit ears), or will a regular pair of outboard "Muff's" (feed's water from only 1 side of the rabbit ears) work. I ask this question because, after hooking up, and turning on the hose water to the "REGULAR" ears, we fired up the motor today, no water came out of the "Tell Tale", we shut right down. We fired up again and I did'nt see any water coming out of the tell tale, shut down motor, fired up again, I held my hand on the water jacket (head), until it got too warm to keep it there (about 30 seconds), then shut down, no alarms. There are 300 hrs on the water pump since it was changed out last spring, I suspect it's "toast". Another Yammi owner suggested this "Professional" rabbit ear flushing theory,
"Professional" Rabbit ear theory: The Larger displacement outboards need the "Professional Muff's" because, it takes more water to fill the heads ? I've only worked on smaller water pumps on smaller engines that had only 1 pick up for the pump, and a $10 pair of rabbit ears feeding from only 1 side to test the engine. This "Professional" theory sound's a tad fishy <")))>< to me but, what do I know ?????? Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE: The "Professional" flush kit was applied, no "tell tale", motor running. The engine was run in a large tub filled w/ water today...No Pick up by the W/P, findings are a "Toasted" water pump.
