I'm refurbing my 2000 23' Conquest.:)

I'm trying to replace the 1/4"-20 heavy duty locknuts that are under the legs of the hardtop. They are about twice as big as normal nyloc lock nuts.

Anybody know where to get 316 stainless 1/4"-20 heavy duty nyloc lock nuts?

I've tried my dealer but its all too hard for them so I get "they are not available".:@

Help appreciated as I can't reconnect the top until I have the items.:(

They have 18-8 stainless in correct size.

It's all I've found so it will have to do.

Where on earth do Boston Whaler source their heavy duty hardtop nuts?

Thanks.

Send Chuck Bennett at Whaler a detailed email.

He may need a few days to reply.

Guys, thanks for advice - saga so far:

1. Mcmaster-Carr has nuts of the right size and 316, but, wait for this - they have stopped shipping overseas due to US customs export restrictions making it all too hard! I presume this is a terrorism prevention thing. My new name "Osama Bin Boston Whaler"!! Give me strength.

Mcmaster has advised me that I can only purchase nuts and bolts if I have a USA address - which I haven't - so that is this route stopped.

2. Chuck at Boston Whaler has been helpful. He has confimed the nut code and told me to go through my dealer. However, when the dealer puts the code into the ordering system he gets "part cannot be ordered online - contact representative". This is obviously all too hard for him so it goes back to the bottom of his "to do"list!

Chuck has said he will contact the rep for me and tell them what to do.

Here's hoping chuck and the rep can sort it out. I can't believe how hard this has been!

Another thing - you would not believe that you cannot buy 316 truss head screws in Australia. It's all pan heads! I think I have ordered some through Fastenal but I have a feeling that they might have ignored my order as well due to US export restraints.

At this rate my boat might be back in the water in 2015! ;)

Mike -

If stuck, maybe a member in the U.S. can act as a go between on the shipping thing.

Hey mate, I have a Conquest 23 out in Perth that had T-top problems. I ended up using 10mm stainless bolts and nylock nuts obtained at Rudds in Midland WA. They were Allen heads and a little larger than the originals, and a little longer. I used my Ryobi (Dremel) cut-off wheels to trim-off the excess bolt ends so my passengers wouldn't gouge their heads in the cabin.
