Hey all,
This is my first post.
This year will be my second year on Long Island Sound.
Please Note : I'm very new to this still.

I'm looking to have some routine maintenance done to my 1987 Mercury Black Max on a whaler Revenge 20 WT of the same year.

These are the prices I got... I'm in CT.
Rebuild carbs (three) $ 415
Change lower unit oil $ 25
New plugs and wires $75
Adjustment and/or replacement of sacrificial anodes $65

This seem about right??? Any suggestions? Please respond here.
Look forward to talking to some of you.
Regards,
Justin

Not bad pricing at all, except next year you save $100 because, you'll know how to do the plugs, and replace the lower unit oil. You might want to take a 1-day USCG basic boating course (about $50, 20% ins. reduction is given for the boat as well if you take the course, some states now require it). There is also a "FREE" VSC (vessel safety check) available for your boat done by the USCG (aux.). They'll go over the boat to make sure she's met all safety requirements (state and Federal), NO violations/tickets are EVER given, you are volunteraly getting the boat inspected for safety, in water, or they'll even come to you and inspect it on the trailer, really nice folks who want you to be sure you're safe on the water, that's all. Good luck with the boat, welcome to "Whaler Central", the BEST site for Whaler owners.
