My son took my 13' out to Calcasieu Lake Saturday. It was pretty breezy and it's a big lake(actually, the locals call it "Big Lake"). The chop jumped up to 2 to 3 feet while he was fishing. On his way in he was running diagonal and following the chop. He found a happy gait at about 25 mph. The boat would climb one wave and come down on the back of the next, but not slap down hard. It was a roller coaster but not one that beat him to death. He caught up with a larger boat and passed it. He was soaking wet. All the other boat could do is gawk at him. They couldn't believe a little boat could run faster than they could in that chop. He frequents a fishing forum and told of his trip with pics of his fish and some of the guys on the site said they had seen him bouncing across the lake.
When I first got the boat, he thought it was a mistake. He said it was too small to do anything with. Now he can't believe how stable and safe he feels in it. I agree. WHAT A BOAT!

Hence "The little boat that could". Nice title and very appropriate.
Reading stories like this just keeps telling me I made the right choice with my BW.

I never felt unsafe in a 13 foot Whaler, maybe uncomfortable at times but never unsafe.:D
