I recently bought a 1990 13' Supersport "project."

It came with no outboard, cables, steering (the wheel is there), lights, etc...

As I am working on repairing the holes in the hull I recall seeing a diagram of where the bottom paint should go.

Does anyone know where I can find that diagram?

I am also looking for an outboard. I am pretty sure I want a 40 hp. I found a 2003 Mercury 2 stroke 40 that is in my budget $2,500 and was wondering what folks thought of that for my 13' Supersport.

We have a 40 hp Johnson on our 13 and in my opinion, it is too heavy. A 25 or 30 hp would give me all the power I would ever need. JMO

I would hold off on bottom paint until after the project is done and the engine mounted.

Best way to get an accurate water line for your hull is to launch the boat with typical gear and then mark along the hull at several points with a wax pencil.

That diagram was on that "other" whaler site, i hope i dont get in trouble for posting this. Whaler Central is so much better & the people here seem to actually enjoy helping each other. "Not that theres anything wrong with the other one" Im trying to cover all the bases here, but i truly like this website so much more :D

My daughter has a 2003 2 stroke 40 Merc with trim-n-tilt, on her 13 Whaler. I think its a tad heavy, but the boat is fast, will pull skiers, and is not thirsty. Its a good running motor. I convinced her to buy it in fact, however I have recently bought a 25 for mine. The boat has less tendency to porpoise with a lighter motor. I hope your 40Merc. has trim-n-tilt. you`ll need it for trimming purposes.
