I am restoring the fishing platform and console on my 68 nauset and wonder if anyone has a source for the grommet/washers that are used with the stainless screws to set the console/seat/platform. I tried to buy an identical washer at my local specialty fastener store and was told that the originals are no longer made. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the stainless cup washers. If so they are called finishing washers, and available at every hardware and home center. Maybe its something different that I`m not aware of.

What are they supposed to attach? I just had mine in pieces.

They are a finishing washer but are unique from the washers that you can commonly buy today. I went to a speciality fastener store and was told they were a unique design. The finishing washers I was able to find are much taller and wider than the original ones found on the 68 nauset.

A # 10 SS finish washer and a #10 Oval head SS screw of the appropriate length should be all that's required...
I'll send 'em to you if you can't find....

If you can post a picture, that would be helpfull. A great source for old hardware (still new) is Fairwinds Marina in Annaoplis MD. Just google them. They have more brass screws and old hardware than I have ever seen before.

I saw some at a west marine that would do the trick. They may not be perfect, but i almost bought some for my nauset.

They are called finish washers if I remember correctly.

Turns out they are just a #10 finishing washer. Hole size is a little smaller than the 40 year old ones :)but will still work perfectly. Don't know why my local specialty fastener store could not point me in that direction as I had shown them the washer.

Thanks to everyone that suggested sources.
