Wondering if the wood backing diagram posted under "downloads" for the 1975 Montauk is accurate for an 1984 Montauk? If not, any idea if the 1997 download would be accurate?

The 1997 would be closer in accuracy than the 1975.

If you tell us what areas are you specifically interested in we can mention any nuances to the plans over the years.

thanks..the boat is new to me so I'm just getting setup w/ data sheets etc. I'm interested in adding a kicker and possibly a transom mounted swim platform so wanted to make sure I knew what sort of backing was in the area

While I had a swim platform on my 1987, I know there is no backing material on the port side for it. There are several models that have different attaching methods.

My platform had two lags (at the platform), and an arm on the port side formed a grab rail. The top of this rail was thru bolted. On the right side was a strut going down to the hull with another lag.
A photo of my model looked like THIS

As for a kicker, I defer to others who have experience with them.
