I JUST PURCHASED A 1991 22 FT OUTRAGE THAT NEEDS TO BE RE-POWERED.
I WAS THINKING OF A 150 HP E-TEC - ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD COMMENTS
OR ADVICE - THIS WILL BE REPLACING A OLD TIRED 200 HP.
WILL THE 150 HP BE ENOUGH POWER??
THANKS

The 150 E-Tec weighs the same as the 200 E-Tec.

I personally would not put anything less than a 200 hp on a Classic 22' Outrage.
My prior Outrage 22' Cuddy had a 175 on it and it was OK, however, if I would have ever needed to replace that engine, a 200 hp would have been mounted on the transom.

Bob -

Welcome to WC.

Your Outrage 22 has a rating of 90 hp as a minimum and 240 hp as a maximum. I agree with Joe. I think an E-TEC is a great solution.

I think Doug V and Jeff will recommend this as well.

Max hp is always the best way to go. twins are always good on a larger boat if you can aford it, but i wouldnt use less than 200hp.

I have an old 200 Suzuki on my Outrage. It moves out nicely with 200 HP. I agree with the above statements, 200 HP would be preferred to less than 200 HP.

I think an Etec 200 would be a great engine on an Outrage 22...., but it would be really cool to have a 225 on it...., or since I am already in dream land, how about twin 115 Etecs!

If you are of the 4 stroke persuasion, I think a Suzuki 200 or 225 would work well also.
