Sorry to the north EASTterners ( I understand the wheather has been pretty ugly over there ), but I got a sunburn from this weekend from being out of Long Beach ( California that is ).The wheather here has been warm. I need to put a bimini on my new 80 17' montauk. I am 6'-1" and dont want to duck when standing. I've found bimini top suppliers on the web, but not sure where to measure from and where exactly to install. Any suggedtions would be great.

I have absolutely NO sympathy. I hope it hurts like ^%$!. :)
I am 6'2 and found standard bimini's are too short. Measure from the top of the gunnel for height. Add a 2-3 inches above your head.
As for position, the bimini's I have owned mounted on sliders. This gives you room to slide it forward and stow in the forward position, up against the rail. You want to mount the tracks outside the forward rails so it stows forward.
Most companies offer different lengths. I think a long one is the best for rain/sun.
Here are 3 photos from my Montauk showing tracks and how the standard bimini looks

What's your take on the mounting position for your Outrage. I'm just getting round to mounting the bimini on my Outrage 1, and I purchased a top that is taller, but a bit wider than will fit inside the rails. I looked at the pictures of your Outrage showing the tracks forward, and to the inside of the rails.
Thanks

On a Montauk, you want the sliders on the outside of the railing so the bimini stores outside of, and in front of the bow rail. This way it is entirely outside of the boat and gives you more precious needed room inside the Montauk.

On an Outrage, the sliders are slightly inside the railing and allows the bimini to slide all the way to, but in back of the bow rail. It is still very much out of the way.
