Hey Guys... boy am I happy today...

Here is a pic of me bringing home my latest project/find - A 1972 19'4 Outrage with twin 1986 75hp Mariners. She needs quite a bit of work... but I do love the style!

OMG ! That's "OFF THE HOOK" CRAZY ! LMAO ! ! ! I LOVE IT ! How many hrs on the engines ? Few things feel better than a "Whaler" in the Driveway ! Best of Luck ! Can't wait to see the "Make over" !

Thanks guys... I really don't know how many hours are on the motors... I popped the covers off - they look real clean - I will be running compression tests on them tomorrow if time permits. She hasn't been run in at least 2 years. The previous owner parked it when NJ required boating safety certs and hasn't used it since.

I am the 4th owner of this Outrage - I have all the receipts dating back to July of 87 when the Mariners were installed.

I know I have my work cut out for me... first order will be get her running... Then a total spring cleaning and assessment - I really need to decide what to do with the deck area and the cap - They have the worse cracking - I took pictures of what I thought were the worse areas. I really don't want to paint... so the question is how nice can I make her without have to regel the whole boat. We shall see.

When I get started I will start a separate thread and put updates there.

Congrads on a superb find ! Be aware that a find such as this may trigger OCD it may display itself as a need to complete a near factory refit and the boat being parked in the Mills parking lot for a week ! I'd be happy to help you deal with any symptoms, see you in New York Harbor !

Jim, your ride is absolutely my inspiration.

I am hoping to have her at least water ready for the New York get together.... she may not be pretty then but she will be functional...... I hope.

Thanks for the offer Duf... I may need to take you up on that - I havent got into the console heavy yet but I can tell you that mice had made a home in there... So who knows what lurks in there. :o

looks decent Scott and most of the hard to find parts seem to be intact. I'd decide right now how far you want to go with the restoration. If you just want it to look nice and be a good fishing/family rig, i'd try and buff the gelcoat from the rub rail down and awl grip the top cap. Check into that seadek material to cover up the non skid, really is some nice stuff. You can probably buff the smooth areas around the non skid to bring it back. v groove out the cracks and mix some resin and cabosil up to fill them with. if the wood in the gas tank cover is soft, there's a good step by step article on here on how to fix it. reinforce the areas in the console from behind to try and elimi nate anymore flex. That should also help stop the cracks from coming back too. I like seeing these old 19/21's being brought back to life.

Very nice project. Are you considering a t-top or cockpit coaming in the restoration? A high speed buffer and 3M polish can do wonders on old gelcoat...Boat looks good, keep the updates coming.

I think my first order of business will be to get her cleaned up, polished and running good. Definitely thinking of adding a leaning post... then we will take it from there.

You are killing me sraab! I have been looking for a 70's outrage/revenge/lo-pro for 6 months now. I think I actually saw this one out on craigslist??? Coooooool find -- good luck with your restoration.

Thanks Rob.... Yeah it was on Craigslist... it was out there for a little bit - then the price dropped... then I made an offer...we haggled a bit... Then I brought her home.... Now the fun begins!
