First let me say what a great website and thanks for all the reference material.
I am having a blast.
In my attempt at a profile I mentioned that this whaler took a 3 block inland ride courtesy of Hurricane Katrina. It came away relatively unscathed due to its buoyancy and while not nearly pristine before the storm, I am now making a sincere attempt to restore it. My non Whaler neighbors were much less fortunate.
It left from under my house, off the trailer, thank goodness, and clipped pine and oak trees and countless debris.
Keep in mind this boat has almost no original hardware-no rails-no Norman pin, just the front and rear rope loops. I removed the old console I was using-The 85 Suzuki will run and has been removed.
I have sanded to the point where a stenciled number is revealed. the number is 011074.
Its 16 feet 4 inches long. Could someone identify the year and make by that number please?
(There is no ID# so when I bought it in the middle 90's I had the state give me one.)
I patched the side rails and have filled most of the spider cracks with Marine Tex.
I just noticed a place under the boat wher the top coat is gone and my neighbor and I glassed and epoxied it.
I plan to make a Sport model out of it since I acquired some mahogany from a Hurricane repair job to another house in which these planks were stored. Unfortunately, they are all 3/4 thick so I'll have to purchase some 5/4 for the seats.
In the 80's I owned a 15 foot and built several varieties of the sport model and used it in freshwater. (I learned quickly how to repair holes punched through the bottom from stumps:D)
Anyway, I read where someone had run wiring throught the new rubrail which is on its way by mail.. I downloaded the wiring diagram on this site and am going to attempt. I need any hardware I can get my hands on-bowlight(I am missing the base-but have the top, any rails.(my wife wants them)
I check ebay daily. Any other sources for hardware? even if not original?
Thanks for listening to my story. I plan to keep this boat for a very long time.

Though I'm new, I guess I can say welcome. You'll hear back from some of these guys pretty soon and you'll know what you have, when it was built and everything you ever wanted to know as you get her back in shape.
Your boat certainly has a story. Naming should be pretty easy.

Mike,
Joe K posted an article covering that subject early on..
Find >Latest Articles...it's on the left
Click >View All
Click >Hull ID Informatio
Click >Deciphering Stencilled Hull Info....
That being said...I couldn't find your # listed....
The 17' hull is 16'7" long and the stencilled numbers started at 3000...
Double check that first numeral...it should be a 3.....I don't see anything that starts with 0....if it is a 3...that would make it a '62-'63
And again...another testimony to these boats being able to stand the worst that Mother Nature can brew up:p
