I am looking to purchase another whaler -- this time a 70's Lo-Pro or Outrage I can convert. I am planning to keep the Montauk but want something more geared towards drifting the flats. I have a couple of leads on them but would like to have a project boat.

In my journey to find the right boat I ran across a very well documented conversion. I posted it here for others to enjoy.

Love the work of filthypit ! Wonder what she's been up to ? Fell outa sight awhile ago, hopefully with the warmer weather a new well documented restoration will present itself in cyberspace. Love those Lo-Pro's and will jump on a project boat also when one presents. Jim

Yeah this one was done nice. I am going down to the coast next weekend to check out a 1974 22' Outrage. I found this one through a CCA friend and needs some work. I was really interested in the 19.6 footer but could get this one for a real deal. My plan is to do a conversion on it like the one above. Slap a new 150 E-Tec and galvanized trailer and away we go.

I don't believe a 21 was produced as a low-pro but did find a picture of one in one of my old catalogs,sorry for the poor picture quality.http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc...lo-pro.jpg

Scrimshaw - Notice the water line on the photo you posted vs the conversion boat I listed. I have been troubled with the older banana hull outrages being to low to the water like the one you posted. BW made the 19 foot outrage with a cap higher up and thinner than the one like on your outrage. I think I am going to try to find that model. I am not sure about converting one with the deeper cap.

According to the Whaler catalogs, the Lo-Pro is identical to the Outrage 19 without the upper deck skin... So it appears if you remove the upper deck skin, you will have a Lo-Pro model so to speak.

I`d like to see a 21 Outrage low pro as a Bass Boat. Red metal flake hull, grey carpeted deck, and a small mahogany center or side console. Of course a 250 Verado. It would be like fishing off a flying dock.

Scrimshaw - The Tran Boats only share the bottom design with the Whaler. I looked at one last weekend and the ride is not even close. The Whaler foam and top side make it a much more solid boat. There is no duplicating an original.

i'm cleaning up a 74 19ft outrage. for 9500.00 i'll say no, no, no, to this rehab. don't get me wrong. it is in very good shape. my mom wants it out of the yard and my girl has her eye on a house. no, no, no, i don't want to let it go.:(
