Mwjunc1 posted thread about Hull restoration recently that rolls the old marbles...
After years of use and with an ancient ding in the outer hull, my '63 Nauset did indeed take water between the inner and outer hulls. It ended up spouting up through a gunnel, much to everyone's concern! It's since been repaired, and appears to be fine, but several questions remain...
Is the injected foam in the hull adhered to both the inner and outer shells? Does it act like a glue bonding the surfaces or does it just fill the space between them?
If the three layers were originally intended to act like one, and now they are not, has the original integrity of the hull been severely compromised?
I can't realy say that I notice any more "flexing", or any new "spiderwebs" on the inner surface over the last 43 years, but the question remains....
Any thoughts on this?
